Private Lessons Studio

Why take private lessons?

This answer varies from student to student. Whether you’re seeking extra help on music for band class assignments, an All-District or All-Region audition, drum corps preparation, interested in learning a new style of music, or simply want to play more music, private lessons are a great place to start. Lessons can be ongoing or a la carte, and personalized to fit what you need.

Who can take lessons?

Anyone! Students of all ages and instruments are welcome to sign up for lessons, ranging from young students through adult players. Although trumpet is my primary instrument, my proficiency in brass instruments includes french horn as well as beginner levels of euphonium, baritone, and trombone. Additionally, if you play an instrument that I do not specialize in, I’d be happy to connect you with one of my colleagues that does specialize in your instrument.

How much do lessons cost?

In an effort to make private lessons accessible to as many students as possible, prices vary from student to student based on several different factors, including length, frequency, age, and budget.

“Jordan brings enthusiasm to her teaching and challenges my son to improve with technique and stamina. She has helped him build confidence for the transition from middle school band to high school wind ensemble. She also offers resources for more study, practice and exposure. I am so grateful for Jordan's patience and great communication skills!”

Where are lessons held?

Anywhere! Although Covid-19 forced many of us into virtual learning environments undesirably, I have been teaching private lessons online for several years prior. Virtual lessons are a meaningful and convenient way to take private lessons from anywhere. This can include your bedroom, home office, your school band room, your backyard, the park in your neighborhood, etc. Wherever you have a reliable internet connection, you can have a lesson.

Do I need any special video program or software to take video lessons? No. I will work to meet you wherever you are with the tools you have. Some of the most popular ways for us to connect include Zoom, Skype, and FaceTime. There will continue to be evolving technology and gadgets to enhance virtual learning, including microphones, speakers, software, and more, but those are not necessary for us to accomplish your goals.

“Jordan has been instructing my son for two years, and she is a TREMENDOUS mentor. She provides a lot of positive reinforcement and variety in her lesson plans, and seamlessly transitions the session if my son is struggling with the material. He adores her, and genuinely looks forward to each session. We both sense her passion for teaching, boundless talent in playing/demonstrating, and a genuine connection and care for her students. Even more, she worked hard to create and engage student peer connections during the pandemic via fun group zoom sessions. Jordan is an above and beyond teacher in every way!”
